ADaM stands for Analysis Data Model. Study data will be analysed to support or reject the objective of the study. SDTM datasets contain the study data in an organized and formatted structure, but may not be readily analysable. We need to add some additional rows or variables or transform existing values to make the data easily analysable. Best practices can be employed for efficient generation, replication and review of clinical trial data analyses. ADaM provides these best practices as fundamental principles and standards to follow in the creation of analysis datasets and its associated metadata.
For example, the endpoint of interest is the percentage change from baseline to the latest available collection on or before Week 24, SDTM datasets does not have this information readily available. We need to add some additional rows and/or variables to the existing SDTM dataset to easily analyse the results.
